10 Suspects Arrested as Nas Gov. Aide Regains Freedom

The Police in Nasarawa State has recorded a huge success as they confirmed the arrest of 10 suspects in connection with the kidnap of the Nasarawa State Governor’s aide, Dr. John Waje Mamma last week Saturday.

The command spoke person, ASP Nansel Ramhan while speaking on the success, said the kidnapped SSA has regained freedom through the proactive measures taken by the police and have since been united to his family in good health condition.

He explained that one suspect was arrested the day of the kidnap and on intelligence gathered, their men swig into action and raided the kidnappers’ hideout and arrested more 7 suspects on Tuesday.

ASP. Ramhan added that they received information yesterday that those who carried out the kidnap were passing through a particular direction and they were engaged in a shootout with their men and two of them were arrested with one fatally injured as one of them escaped.

He said items recovered from the suspects includes one million, one hundred and fifty thousand, five hundred naira, (#1.150,500), five (5) mobile phones of different brand and one (1) blue Honda Motorcycle.

The command spokesman said the suspects will be charged to court as soon as they conclude investigation into the matter.

Though the Police could not confirm if a ransom was paid before the release of the kidnapped Senior Special Adviser to govenor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, the spokesman said the Police are not encouraging payment of ransom by any family to kidnappers as they are capable of handling challenges of such nature.

Earlier, the kidnappers were said to have demanded a hundred and fifty million (150m) ransom before they later dropped down to twenty million (20m) on Monday.

ASP. Ramhan urged the public to always believe in the Police and give them necessary information to enable them act swiftly, noting that the Police have the capacity to serve the public in area of security.
