2020: Christians Tasked to be Different

The leading Pastor of COCIN Church, Kirikasama in Maiduguri, Rev. Emmanuel Balami has urged his congregation not to cross over into the New Year and remain idle or go back to their old lives but move forward as true believers in Christ.
Rev. Balami stated this while speaking in a message to usher his congregation into the New Year.
According to Rev. Balami, “If we want to experience the manifestations of God in the year 2020, we must consecrate ourselves, live holy lives and be set apart for God. If the Lord is pleased with us, He would grant our heart desires because what you want from God must be earned”.
He referred the congregation to Joshua 3:1-17 showing the exploits of God as well as the upliftment of Joshua before the Israelites and reminded them to do away with gossips, be spiritually alert so as to be consecrated as holy people of God.
“Whatever troubles or challenges you are facing, allow God to step in and meditate on how the children of God surmounted challenges when they were confronted with them and above all, kill self in you, examine yourself critically, repent and be humble and obedient”, he stressed.
He made reference to 1 Peter 5:8 which says “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” and urged the people saying “when you cross over and take over in God’s ways, you will experience wonders in your life and people will see and read you differently.
