2023 Elections: COCIN Prays With Aspirants, Cautions Against Rancour

The Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN has held a special prayer session with various aspirants who are members of the Church at the COCIN Headquarters.

Speaking from Psalms 1:1-3 with the topic “Wait for your Season”, the COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo reminded the aspirants to understand that leadership is given by God and every individual has his/her season.

Bar. Caleb Mutfwang of the PDP and Dr. Nentawe Yilwada of the APC

He warned them against fighting among themselves noting that they are one and must learn to work together for the common interest of building Plateau State to maintain its position as salt and light of Nigeria.

“The purpose of this meeting is because COCIN loves all of you hence the need to pray with you. If it is your season, God will surely actualize your ambitions and make you the leader but if it is not, do not be angry, discouraged and go and do silly things that will tarnish your faith.

“Democracy should be a blessing rather than a curse. The church looks forward to having a government that has the Plateau people at heart and is ready to bring meaningful development to the state. We look forward to a time when we shall have an International Airport in Plateau, workers paid their wages on time, villages are linked up by good roads, employment given to the youth, security of lives and property is guaranteed and good education”, Rev. Dr. Mohzo said.

He advised that whoever eventually becomes elected should have a large heart and carry everyone along.

Also speaking, the COCIN Incorporated Board of Trustees Chairman, Rev. Prof. Soja Bewarang urged them to distinguish themselves among others that have served before them and ensure that they stand as blameless before God and men.

He prayed that God grants them the spirit of excellence to lead like Daniel and wished them well in their politicking.

Responding on behalf of all the COCIN aspirants present, the gubernatorial aspirants of the All Progressives Congress APC, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Bar. Caleb Mutfwang both appreciated COCIN for the initiative saying they will work together to ensure that the interest of Plateau is put first. They promised not to do anything that will jeopardize the image of Plateau State and solicited for the Church to continue to pray for them.

The meeting ended with a special prayer for all the aspirants.
