2023 Elections: Police Laud Plateau Citizens for Peaceful Conduct

Plateau State Police Command has commended citizens of the State for demonstrating peace and decorum throughout the just concluded electioneering periods..

In a statement made available to Journalists on Friday in Jos, by the Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, said this is a clear indication that democracy has reached a laudable crescendo in the State and the Country at large.

“Even though there are pockets of electoral offences in some polling units in the State, the Command in the exercise of its constitutional powers, has arrested electoral culprits, recovered exhibits and commenced investigation to ensure due prosecution of the offenders.

“In order to maintain peace in the State, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Bartholomew N. Onyeka, psc(+) advises aggrieved parties to follow due process by seeking redress in the court of law rather than resorting to other means that could incite and cause disturbance of public peace in the State.”

The statement added that the Police will not spare anyone found to have breached the public Peace in the State.

DSP Alabo in the statement said the Commissioner of Police also expressed profound gratitude to other security agencies in the State for working assiduously with the Police to provide adequate security before, during and after election process.

The Plateau Police boss also hailed members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm for exhibiting utmost professionalism by being factual and objective in the coverage and reportage of the election process in the State.
