2023: Plateau Lawmaker threatens Electorates if They Fail to Vote him

The member representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanam (PKK) Constituency of Plateau State at the National Assembly, Yusuf Adamu Gagdi has threatened electorates, especially delegates of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC in the forthcoming Primary election of the party if they Fail to vote him.

He made the threat yesterday while wooing delegates with the distribution of 350 Bajaj Motorcycles, 10 Cars and presentation of N100 million Cheque as refund payment for all registered students for WEAC and NECO in both public and private Secondary Schools in the 3 local governments in his Constituency.

Addressing the gathering, Gagdi warned that any delegate who collects his gifts and fails to vote him in the primary election will have the gift withdrawn as he knows how to get back his things.

In his words, “I will give you even before election, but I have a way of taking it back if you do not vote for me, I will not be ashamed, I will not be ashamed, I will not be ashamed to take it back. Because, I cannot take 400,000 of my personal sweat, not your money I swear and buy a Bajaj Motorcycle and come and give someone that will go and vote for someone who does not want those gifts to continue.

“If you know you are not on the program we made it very clear, if you know you will not do it don’t take it, but if you take it that one is empowerment, we are meeting at the delegates election. Whatever money we give you to go and lay foundation for two bedrooms we will do it at the election. Please if you don’t love Gagdi don’t come close to what Gagdi has, go and collect from the person you think can give you and leave me with the people that think they can support me as simple as that” he added.

It could be recalled that same member representing PKK had last year threatened the Ngas nation that the 2023 election is going to be do me I do you and that since the Ngas tribe wants the Governorship seat of Plateau state they will not take the House of Representatives seat from him and still get the Governorship post,he said.

The recorded threat by the member yesterday had since gone viral on social media just as the previous video threat and is generating reactions from his Constituents.

Most of the ongoing primary elections by political parties in the country to elect standard flag bearers for the parties has been characterized with buying delegates and high bidders mostly winning.

A Governorship aspirant under the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP in Kaduna state, Senator Shehu Sani tweeted how a certain aspirant in the state used vigilantes and hunters to recover the money he had earlier paid delegates to vote for him but they failed to vote him at the primaries.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC had proposed a fine of N500.000.00 only or imprisonment or both for person’s convicted of vote buying or selling to curb the menace.

Section 23 of the Electoral Amendment Act 2010 subsection (C) says “Any person who buys or offers to buy any voters card whether on his own behalf or on behalf of any other person commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding N500,000.00 or imprisonment not exceeding two years or both”.
