COCIN Hosts ANAN Meeting, Calls them to Serve faithfully 

Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN) has successfully hosted the monthly meeting of Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) Plateau State branch.

The meeting which was held on Saturday at Karl Kumm University Vom, with COCIN President represented by the COCIN Director of Church Growth, Rev. James Ayizeh 

While declaring the meeting open the COCIN President charged the Accountants to served faithfully and with integrity as they will also give account at the end of their stewardship on earth. 

He welcomed and encouraged them to always approach the Church where they need any assistance. He rounded up with special prayers for the ANAN members.

Mr. Udah Agbadi FCNA, the ANAN Chairman, Plateau state branch, in his opening speech described the meeting as a special one because it is being hosted by a religious organization where they will receive a lot of spiritual blessings. He thanked COCIN for hosting them again for a second time.

While presenting a paper on ‘Cyber Security and Data Protection in Accounting: Basic Practices’ which was originally presented by Prof. Fatima Alfa Tahir at the 2024 ANAN Development Programme, Mr. D T Tongle stressed the need for Accountants to understand the security risk and attacks in the cyber space and how to safe guard their data so as not to be replaced by machines.

According to him failure to safeguard financial data will lead to job or business losses. “Accountants play the role of digital gate keepers, ensure data is complete and they inculcate the organizational culture of cyber security” he added.

Commenting on the presentation, Mr. Tony Garba the ANAN Assistant Secretary said the matter of Cyber security is a serious one as the children they are giving birth to today are from another planet. He observed that from available records the youngest scammer in the world today is a 7 years Nigerian boy. According to him the paper presentation calls for special vigilance on the part of professional Accountants.

The meeting featured the inauguration of FCE Pankshin as a new chapter and branch standing committees which include: Membership Mobilization Committee to be Chaired by Mr. Livinus Buenyen, Workshop, Conference and Editorial Committee, to be Chaired by Mr. Jerry Pogoson and Audit Committee to be Chaired by Mr. Stephen Ibrahim.
