Dangote, ABOC Foundations, distribute food palliatives in Nasarawa

The Aliko Dangote Foundation in collaboration with Ahmed Bola Oduleye Charity (ABOC) Foundation, has distributed food items to 1,000 vulnerable people in Wamba Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State.

The gesture was part of measures to cushion the current hardship being faced by the people.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony on Tuesday in Wamba, Alh. Ahmed Oduleye, Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of ABOC Foundation, said the palliative measure was provided by Aliko Dangote Foundation to alleviate the sufferings of the vulnerable people in the area occasioned by the fuel subsidy removal.

Oduleye said the gesture was intended to complement what the state government was doing through the provision of relief materials to the people of the state in this period of hardship.

He gave the assurances that his foundation assured that his foundation would continue to support the state government in the efforts towards addressing the humanitarian needs of the people.

The CEO ABOC Foundation appreciated Aliko Dangote for providing the relief materials and urged other Non-governmental Organisations and public spirited individuals to emulate the kind gesture for the overall development and wellbeing of the people.

” The little relief you bring to the people at the grassroots will go a long way in saving some families from hunger,” he added.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Hon Mu’azu Gosho, said that the Governor Abdullahi Sule led administration has continued to distribute palliatives to the people of the state since the removal of fuel subsidy to cushion its effects on the people.

Gosho, who appreciated Aliko Dangote Foundation for the donation also thanked ABOC Foundation for ensuring that the relief materials got to the people in the rural communities.

He, therefore, called on the beneficiaries to ensure that the items were properly utilised for the desired purpose.

On his part, the Chairman of Wamba LGA, Bala Hasiru, represented by his deputy, Jonathan Agah, thanked the NGOs for choosing Wamba for the intervention and called for its sustenance

Also speaking, the Oriye Rindre, His Royal Highness, retired Justice Lawal Nagogo, who spoke through the Wakilin Tsabta Wamba, Alh. Aliyu Abbah, said the effects of the fuel subsidy removal was affecting the people, hence the need for government and NGOs to come to the aid of the people especially the vulnerable group in the society.

He further commended Aliko Dangote and ABOC Foundations for the gesture, calling on the people not to sell the items given to them but use them to improve on their nutrition.

Earlier, the Programme Officer of ABOC Foundation, Kefayat Olanrewaju, said the organisation has a proven track records of successful humanitarian initiatives, dedicated to improving lives and addressing hunger, especially among the less fortunate.

She said the foundation in partnership with Aliko Dangote Foundation distributed 2,000 bags of rice to 1,060 individuals in Wamba LGA to alleviate the economic challenges facing our society.

Some of the beneficiaries, Solomon David and Esther Moses , thanked the organisations for the gesture and prayed God to bless them
