Vice Chancellor of Karl Kumm University, Vom Nigeria, Professor Yakubu Yerima Jabil has disclosed that the university’s established clear mandate of producing a generation of academically excellent generation of leaders committed to solving Africa’s most pressing problems.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Director and Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria, Prof Patrick Dakum, Prof. Jabil noted that the university intends to partner the institute considering its pioneering role in public health, research, diagnostics and capacity building mechanisms in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the Protocol and Information Officer to the Vice Chancellor, Bulus Gambo quoted Prof. Jabil soliciting for areas of collaboration in medical research education, research diagnostics, public health and community health outreach.
Other areas of collaborative interest according to the Vice Chancellor include joint research motivation in Microbiology, infectious disease, environmental health and related areas leveraging on the university’s resources and the institute’s state of the art research infrastructure and field experience.
Receiving the Vice Chancellor and his Management Team, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer, Institute of Human Virology, Nigeria, Prof Patrick Dakum explained that the Institute established in 2004 has continued to develop classical research and capacity building mechanisms to produce health professionals to change the narratives of the plight of vulnerable communities in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
He said that since it’s establishment, the institute has continued to encourage young researchers, provide care, treatment, and accessibility to global funds to overcome fragile healthcare systems across Africa.
Prof Dakum expressed willingness to partner with Karl Kumm University and expose the university to international platform of scientists beneficial to both institutions.
In her remarks, the Head of Department Microbiology, Dr. Patricia Chollom thanked the Director General for providing such a relevant international platform to encourage researchers and help them excel.
