COCIN Considering Centralized Structure for Music Ministers

An initiative for musical ministers of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN to have a centralized structure is said to be under consideration at the COCIN Headquarters, Jos Plateau State.

This came to bare when some gospel musicians under the proposed name, COCIN Gospel Music Ministers Forum, CGMN paid a courtesy visit to the COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Musa Mohzo at his office at the COCIN Headquarters, Jos.

According to Solomon Damulak and Yohanna Likita who led the delegation, the purpose of the visit was to appreciate the COCIN President for his tireless efforts in ensuring that COCIN remains a dependable church in spreading the true gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the world.

They described Rev. Dr. Mohzo as a role model whose leadership style is worth emulating by the younger generation and urged him to continue to uphold his faith in Christ despite the numerous challenges that comes with leadership and doing what is right.

“We know that sometimes taking the necessary steps to bring about sanity in the church is not an easy task, but we appreciate you for not sparing those who are found wanting even pastors. It is for this reason that we are praying for God to continue to strengthen you in your leadership”, they said.

Responding, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo appreciated the team for keying into the mandate of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world through music adding that they have not disappointed the church as they have maintained modesty and sound theology in their songs.

He assured them that the church is looking for ways to further complement their efforts that is why the proposal to have a centralized structure for COCIN music ministers is being considered at management level.

“COCIN values what you are doing by spreading the gospel through music and we are proud of what you are doing because you are using your God-given talents to glorify the name of Jesus Christ. Do not be discouraged, because we will try to ensure that there is synergy between gospel music ministers and Pastors”, Rev. Mohzo said.

In a chat with leader of the team, Solomon Damulak, he said the need to have a single umbrella for all gospel musicians from COCIN denomination became a necessity in order to encourage each other and to check the excesses of those who are derailing from the faith and restore them in love.

He pointed out that music is a powerful tool through which they preach the message of peace, healing and encouragement to those who are weak adding that if approved, the forum intends to ensure unity among all artistes in COCIN and will further train members because music is beyond just singing but living what we sing.

Concerning the current economic hardship in the country, Solomon Damulak encouraged gospel music ministers to write song which will inspire hope and songs that will make people to keep trusting in God who is the giver of all resources.

“When we write songs that inspire hope, the people will know that our God is bigger than our challenges and they will go around with hope on their faces because they know that they are trusting in the living God who can supply their needs”, he said. The team which was made up of representatives from different Regional Church Council, RCCs later presented a gift as a symbol of appreciation to the COCIN President.
