Plateau Assembly Scrutinizes MDAs 2025 Budget

Standing Committees of the Plateau State House of Assembly have started scrutinizing the 2025 fiscal year budget proposal that was presented to them by the State Governor recently.

Different Ministries, Departments and Agencies were at the State Assembly complex in Jos, taken time one after the other to defend their budget ahead of the year 2025.

So far, the State Ministries for Information, Lands and Survey, Education, Tertiary Institutions among many other Agencies and Departments have appeared for the defence.

State Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms while speaking, pledged a robust media engagement to enlightened the public on government policies and to ensure citizens involvement in governance.

Commissioner for Land and Survey, Barr. Peter Gai said the major priority of his ministry in the 2025 budget is to capture more people in their C of O drive, saying, rather than people coming to them to obtain land titles, they will go to them to encourage them to do so and that will increase the ministry’s revenue generation.

Mr. Salihu Nyalum, the State Commissioner for Education, (Secondary) said they have come to defend a transparent and accountable budget of the ministry that will translate into ensuring that Plateau State Children gets quality education.

He said already the Ministry has entered into partnership with other private organizations aimed at giving the best for the children as government alone cannot achieve it all.

The acting Provost, College of Health Technology, Zawan, Dr. Jonathan Bulus, said the budget defense was successful and they are pleased with the interface with the committee members who have promised to help push some of their programs.

The Committee on education under the chairmanship of the House Deputy Majority Leader and member representing Kanke Constituency, Joseph Gokum, scrutinized the budgets of College of Education Gindiri, College of Arts, Science and Technology, CAST, Kurgwi, Plateau State University, Bokkos, and State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB

Other agencies that have defended their budget before the Assembly are the State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Plateau Publishing Cooperation PPC among others
