People are Hungry, Selfishness in Leadership must Stop- Anglican Primate. Ndukuba

The Primate of Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Bishop Henry Ndukuba has decried the level of selfishness of people holding public offices in Nigeria.

The primate was speaking at COCIN headquarters in Jos, Plateau State when he paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo in his office recently.

He decried how sometimes people in position of power abuse their offices for selfish gains.

“Sometimes we feel we are being led by people who do not love the citizens, people who find themselves in place of authority and suddenly use the opportunity to, instead of improving for the good of all, they are amassing wealth for themselves.

“This selfishness in leadership must stop. The people are hungry, they are crying. The leaders are there for the people, let them serve the purpose for which they are in that position.” He added.

He thanked governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State for standing for the Lord and the people, as he assured of their continued prayer for those in position of powers, but urged them to do the needful for good of the ordinary citizen of the country.

The primate advised citizens to understand that they are in a perilous time, as Paul told Timothy in the Bible and the people of Ephesians that the days are evil.

But he encouraged believers that there is no better time to preach the gospel and to stand for God and humanity than this time.

He admonished Christians to stand strong and remain faithful in the face of the growing hunger and insecurity in the nation, urging them to always stand on the side of peace.

Bishop Ndukuba also advised farmers to redouble efforts to harvest what they planted in good time, so that it will not be a snare for those who will bring animals in it and cause trouble.

Speaking on his visit to the COCIN President, the Primate said he is in Jos for a meeting, so he felt it is necessary to visit his brother and friend, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo to share their thoughts and pray together for the Church.

COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo who received the guest alongside some COCIN management, thanked the Primate for the visit, believing that it will encourage stronger ties among them.
