The Nigerian Correctional Service has released previously convicted former Governor of Plateau State, Joshua Dariye and his Taraba State counterpart, Jolly Nyame.
Both were convicted of corruption in 2016. They were handed at least ten years in jail.
But the federal executive council in June recommended a Presidential parson for them.
They were however still detained for lack of a clearance letter from the Justice Ministry according to Prison authorities.
Their release on Monday followed the formal receipt of the letter according to prison officials speaking on background.
Mr. Dariye’s personal Aid, Usman Abacha has confirmed the reports. “Yes it is true, you can go ahead and write about it. It is true,” said Abacha in a phone call.
