In a bid to take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the sporting arena, the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN has officially unveiled her own football club with the name Light Football Club.
The team with 40 Players and 7 man technical crew was officially inaugurated at the 98th General Church Council meeting at the COCIN headquarters Church in Jos, Plateau state.
Presenting the team to the Church leaders, the COCIN Director of Church Growth, Rev. Bulus Tsok said all the players were carefully selected from the talented players that COCIN as a Church is endowed with across the nation.
President of the Church, Rev. Dr. Dachollom Datiri while addressing the players, reminded them of the core values of establishing the team to bring unity and propagate Christ through football.
He admonished them to let their light shine in their conduct and dressing as their name imply, urging them not to copy everything they see in other players in the name of fashion or as celebrity.
Rev. Dr. Datiri charged the team that as pioneer players, much is expected of them and urged them to make history leaving a commendable legacy that will make the Church proud.
The former President of the Church and member Board of Trustee, Rev. Dr. Musa Gotom (Rtd) prayed on the team for success.
The team, Lightbearer learned is now on the process of registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission CAC, before taking the certificate for formal registration with Plateau State Sports Council and the National level.
It would be recalled that last year COCIN initiated the President Cup which started at LCCs to RCCs and PCCs, after which all the PCCs converged in Jos, Plateau state for knockout stages and final.
At the final which was played at the Rwang Pam stadium, PCC Panyam defeated PCC Kabwir to emerge champion while PCC Jos defeated PCC Borno to clinched the third place.
