COCIN Dedicates Four Storeys Ultra Modern Guest House

The Church of Christ In Nations (COCIN) has dedicated a four storey ultra Modern Guest House built through offerings from Church members.

While performing the dedication rights yesterday in Jos COCIN President Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo thanked members of the church for their sacrificial giving for the work of God which has help in the guest house project. He used the opportunity to dispel the speculations in some quarters that the church borrowed money to execute the project.

According to him the church embarked on the project in order to boost its revenue base and to help meet up with the demands of the Church. And that no launching was organised nor special offering collected for the project, only proceeds from normal church offering.

He added that the Church is hoping to build a second guest house in front of the new one and another one in Abuja if God provide the resources with the hope to boosts the revenue base of the church.

The Governor of Plateau States, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang who was represented at the the occation by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs. Joyce Ramnap described the guest house as a beautiful edifice that will contribute to the tourism and hospitality industry in the state.

He commended the church leadership for conceiving the vision and brining it to reality. The new guest house will also create employment for people in the state thereby reducing the unemployment rate.

Governor Mutfwang further reiterate the effort made by his administration to revive the tourism industry in the state. And that the government has designate December as the month of tourism in the state with events like the Unity Christmas Carol, Christmas tree Lighting ceremony and a host of others.

Former COCIN President, Rev. Prof. Soja Bewarang who gave a brief exhortation describe the project as a testament of God’s faithfulness and the unity of the church. He said hospitality which the guest house represents is a sacred duty and demonstration of God’s love adding that it is a place where Christ will be worship and not for “chop chop”

“Let this not be a place for chop-chop. Many church projects die because people turn them into feeding centres. May this one stand for ministry and development.” Prof. Bewarang said

While thanking God for the new development, he went down memory lane to recall the first story building by the missionary decked with woods in 1942, which was later followed by the current Church’s headquarters Secretariat building dedicated in 2008.

Earlier in his welcome address, the COCIN Vice President, Rev. Assoc. Timothy Nwan thanked God for the successful completion of the guest house which he described as a product of unity. He said it began as a mustard seed and at the dedication they witnessed what God has done under the leadership of the COCIN President.

Presenting the Church’s goodwill message COCIN General Secretary, Rev. Assoc. Prof. Benjamin Pokol thanked the people for coming to rejoice with the Church for the great achievement. He appreciate the members for their commitment and the unity that birth the great achievement.

While reading the history of the new guest house the COCIN Deputy General Secretary Rev. Dinfa Mamshal said the idea was conceived in 2013 by the Church’s department of finance under the then leadership of Mr. Yakubu Dutse. The Church embraced the idea and in 2015 a four man committee was set up which was later restructured to seven man committee in 2022 under the Chairmanship of late Engr. Sunday Hyat. The Committee worked with coopted staff of the Church and other subcommittee to complete the new guest house project.

According to him the new guest house which is sitting on a 4,576.52 Sqm has 99 luxury suites spreads across ground, first , second and third floors and a pent house for VIPs with four living rooms at the fourth floor. It has 250 capacity conference hall, an internet cafe, a modern kitchen, a restaurant, offices, commercial shops and a parking lot for 50 cars.

The project which was completed in three years adopted a direct labour approach which cost #2,019,804,577.45 excluding furnishings.

There were goodwill messages from the COCIN Board of Trustees delivered by the Secretary, Rev. Prof. Dachollom Datiri, Gbong Gwom Jos and other traditional rulers from within and outside Plateau state.
