COCIN President urges Churches to raise awareness on Child Trafficking

The President of the Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo has urged pastors to used the pulpits and raise awareness among members over the rising cases of child trafficking especially on the Plateau.

The President was speaking to staff of the Church during the official closing ceremony of work at the Church secretariat for the year 2024 in Jos on Thursday.

According to the Church spiritual leader, the reports of sharp rise of child trafficking on the Plateau is alarming hence, the need for Church leaders to use the pulpits to speak to families on the implications of the ungodly act and how to address the menace.

He lamented how sometimes parents pushed their children out to fend for the family, noting that such act exposes them especially the girl child into prostitution, there by making the traffickers to take advantage of that to lure them to other states or countries.

In his words, ” We are not lazy people to that extent in Plateau State, and we are Christians, that should not be found among us. “

Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo also urged residents to be security conscious as there are reports of insecurity around in some communities.

“This season often witnesses heighten insecurity, there are credible report of increase threat in some areas. I urge everyone to be conscious of their movement. Avoid late night hours and prioritize safety during this festivities. “

The President also advised the staff to be mindful of spending in the name of celebrating the season, as the hardship ahead might be tougher than now.

He appreciated the staff’s commitment to work in the year and pray God to reward them richly as he read the book of Ezekiel chapter 18:18-20 and spoke on rewards.

Rev. Dr. Mohzo also urged them to be faithful in their dealings as God reward every act of faithfulness and deal decisively with unfaithful persons.

He wished all the staff happy Christmas and new year celebration and prayed God to return them all safely in 2025.

There was a special prayers for staff on transfers by the COCIN Vice President, Rev. Dr. Timothy Nwan as well as all other staff by the Deputy General Secretary, Rev. Dinfa Mamshal.
