The President of the Church of Christ in Nations COCIN, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo has said the Church intends to establish Information and Communications Technology, ICT Centres in all the Regional Church Councils, RCCs.
The COCIN President made this known while speaking as a guest preacher at the RCC Garki, Abuja Headquarters.
Rev. Mohzo said the move became necessary to help make communication easier across all sections of the Church especially in this advanced technological age. He maintained that when this is achieved, it will aid in the speedy passage of correct information to the Church without the fear of being misunderstood as has been the case in some instances in the past in which information was inappropriately stepped down to the people.
“Despite the fact that ICT will help a great deal especially in this era of insecurity by limiting unnecessary travelling for meetings, we should note that the presence of ICT gadgets such as Zoom and mobile phones should not in any way replace our physical meetings for worship because the physical worship is very important because it provides a more intimate form of worship to God”, Rev. Dr. Mohzo said.
He commended RCC Garki and others who are compliant for establishing ICT units in their various churches and called on those who are yet to key into it to speed up the process saying it will enhance worship.
It could be recalled that during the COVID-19 Pandemic which resulted into a complete lockdown of many countries, many organizations including the Church turned to ICT as an escape tool to keep up communication and running of organizations.
