One thousand seven hundred (1700) persons living with disability within the 17 local government areas of Plateau state have benefited from a palliative donated by the Chief Executive Officer of the Beautiful Gate Handicap People’s Center, Jos Plateau State, Hon. Ayuba Burki Gufwan.
Gufwan revealed that the palliative is meant to alleviate the hardship faced by citizens, particularly persons living with disability. He said government alone cannot meet the needs of its citizens as the pandemic has crippled the economy of the nation.
Gofwan pointed out that the lockdown which has further stopped all businesses from striving however is to the benefit of the citizens which is to prevent the spread of the virus and charged the beneficiaries to adhere to the laid dawn rules of stay home stay safe.
Responding in the last part of the 3 local governments visited, Chairman Jos East, Hon. Ibrahim Agwom, that of Barkin/Ladi, Hon. Ezekiel Mandyau and Hon. Mafeng Gwalson of Riyom local government through their representatives thanked the donor for his support to the persons with disability and pray for more open doors.
Also speaking, Chairman Join Association of persons with Disability plateau state, Mr. Sath Attah appreciated Hon. Gufwan for this kind gesture noting that he has not only come to their aid in terms of food alone but he has provided them with wheelchairs, caroches, hearing aid, walking canes for the blind among others things.
Attah appealed to the local and state governments to give the association any palliative given as they know their members.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Markus Danladi, Musa Davou and Da Joshua Gyang all appreciated Hon. Gufwan for his support and prayed for good health and more openings to him.
Items donated include rice, maize, beans and garri.
