A Nigerian interest group, Christians Right Agenda (CRA), says government locking down cities to contain the Coronavirus disease should produce a “well-defined” policy to ease the challenges associated with it.
This is because a lot of Nigerians live by “daily earnings,” says the group.
Quarantine, CRA in a press statement through its its Director of Publicity, Mr. Tom Chiahemen, said, the best way yet to curtail the spread of the virus.
However, days after President Muhammadu Buhari announced palliatives in a national broadcast, authorities have yet to show “Clear direction on who constitutes the ‘poor and vulnerable’ in our society.”
The group asked government to equally make testing available for all citizens, while calling religious groups to donate for the welfare of citizens affected by the outbreak.
“We commend all those who have made contributions to help in managing the victims of the covid19 pandemic;
“We hereby appreciate all the churches and other Christian bodies who rose to the occasion donating cash and equipment;
“It is a well considered view of CRA that all religious groups must rise to the occasion and emulate the Christian Church at this critical period;
“Such religious groups as MURIC, JNI, the Izala, etc, should come out at this point to show the love that all religions of the world preach. We challenge them to draw a line between humanity and politics,” said CRA.
