Democracy Day: Preserve Tenets of Democracy- Plateau Speaker

The Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly, Abok Ayuba has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the National Assembly, Judiciary, Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, Traditional rulers and indeed all Nigerians on the occasion of twenty two years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria.

The Speaker stated this in a goodwill message to Nigerians in commemoration of the country’s democracy day, saying democracy remains the best form of government.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bulus Atang, the speaker called on Nigerians to continue to pursue ideals and actions that promote national interest.

He Stressed that the greatest honour Nigerians could accord heroes of democracy is to preserve its tenets, adding that, democracy is people inclusion in governance and politics as well as ensuring that, the popular Voice of the people prevail against any sectional interest.

Hon. Abok expressed optimism that with the collective resolve by well-meaning Nigerians, the security, economy and other challenges confronting the Nation will be surmounted.

The State Legislative leader said as the People’s Parliament, the activities of the ninth State Assembly under his watch will continue to be guided by the yearnings and aspirations of the people, such that their interests are reflected in day to day activities of the government they installed.

The Speaker enjoined all citizens to continue supporting the government of the day and eschew any form of disaffection and promote the path of peace.
