FG, Lalong, Dakum Eulogize Prof. Maimako at Thanksgiving

The immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Seddi Sabastine Maimako has been described by many as a man of honour and epitome
of excellence.

During a thanksgiving service for a successful completion of his tenure as the 9th vice Chancellor of the University of Jos at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Lu’ukwo, Bankin Ciyawa in Quan’pan LGA of Plateau State, Prof. Maimako was celebrated as a change agent who transformed the University during his stayed in the topmost office of the Institution from 2016 to 2021.

In his congratulatery message to the celebrant, the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu who spoke through governor Simon Lalong, described the former vice Chancellor as one of the best performing vice Chancellor in his time as a Minister.

While speaking on behalf of the Northern Governor’s Forum and as the governor of Plateau State, Lalong noted that Prof. Sabastine Maimako has left a very good record in the University and described him as a worthy son of the soil that has made the state proud.

Lalong used the occasion to call on the citizens to continue to pray for the nation, noting that it has not been easy for him as leader as he is called upon from other northern states as their Chairman if something is going wrong in those states.

“People sometimes will say we are not doing anything, but one thing I know is that we are working, both at the Federal and State and this country will one day overcome . But we need your prayers, continue to pray for us, nobody is happy that things are happening like this, but God is the answer and by the grace of God things will get better” he said.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of Institute of Human Virology Nigeria, IHVN, Dr. Patrick Dakum said Prof. Maimako is a man of humility and what examplifies him is his perseverance and persistence in what he believes in.

“His simplicity is such that the farmer can approach him, Professors can approach him, a billionaire can approach him and a man that is having a wheelbarrow can also approach him. I think is not his doors that are open but it’s his heart that is open” Dr. Dakum described.

He added that Prof. Maimako is one of the great icons on the Plateau through his contribution to the education system at the state and national level.

Dr. Dakum used the occasion and called on public office holders to make impact in whatever office they are occupying in order to be celebrated after their stay in office like the University Don is being celebrated after five years in office.

The Long Goemai of Shendam, Miskom Martin Shaldas III, the Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Jos, Most Rev. Dr. Ishaya Audu and the acting vice Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Gray Ejikeme all showered praises on the University Don.
