Governance: Women Plead for Chance to Govern

The National President of Ngas Women Development Association, Matwok Godiya Kitgakka has pleaded for a chance for the women folk to govern the affairs of this country from Ward level to the National level in order to showcase their quality leadership style.

Matwok Godiya Kitgakka made the appeal at a cultural event organized by the Ngas Women Development Association at the Nefur Arena, Pankshin LGAof Plateau State.

She noted that they are not contesting with their fathers or husbands, but are appealing for a place in governmental affairs to contribute their quota in addressing some of the challenges they have identified but lack attention from the men.

“To our women with political ambitions, you should pursue it fully and as women, we will stand by you and all our children with good credentials who are seeking to serve in different capacities we wish you well” she added.

She appealed for educational and economical empowerment for the women so as to give them a sense of belonging in the scheme of things.

Matwok Kitgakka made a passionate appeal to all authorities concerned to do more in the area of security of lives and properties of the citizens.

“The security situation in this country is not palatable and women are mostly at the receiving end. We urge the government and security agencies to be more proactive in safeguarding our lives and lives of all citizens” she appealed.

The event tagged “Pus kangke Nmatmwa” also featured award presentations and fundraising for the building of Gantang (Hall) and traditional dances as the women also showcased the Ngas rich culture heritage.
