Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong says he is full of “praises and admiration” to Securities for swiftly rescuing four students kidnapped by gunmen on Monday night at Plateau State University, Bokkos.
Gunmen believed to be bandits stormed the off-campus student residences at Ndar village near the University campus at about 10pm, and took four female students after injuring a male student.
But upon receiving distress call, officers of Operation Safe Haven, Operation Rainbow, Nigeria Police, along with the University Security team and Community Watch Group went after the kidnappers, rescuing all four.
Governor Lalong in a press statement through his Director of Press, Makut Macham, directed the “immediate” establishment of a police outpost in the community to forestall a reoccurrence.
The Governor also directed that security be tightened in all schools across the State to guarantee safety of students.
It would be recalled that the Governor had last year directed the University Management to improve security of the institution which led to the installation of CCTV surveillance and early warning systems all over the campus as well as the preparation for fencing of the entire campus.
