Hardship: COCIN Vice President Calls on Christians to Pray for Nigeria

The Vice President, Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, Rev. Dr. Timothy Nwan has called on Christians to pray for Nigeria and to help one another in view of the current hardship in the country.

He made the call today at COCIN Church Rantya, Jos during the Send off prayer of Mrs. Helen Samuel Dahil, wife of one of the Church’s Pastor who died in active service in March this year.

The Vice President, in his pastoral greetings at the service called on the Church to pray for Nigeria and the leaders. He acknowledged that “we are in the end times and life has become so hard for many.”

He charged Christians to emulate the early Church by Helping one another if not many will die of hunger.

He also reminded the congregation that death is the end of all mankind and there is life after death. According to him the Church lost 28 ordained pastors in the last six months, he therefore charged  them not to missed heaven because of the things of the world.

The Church leader also encouraged the wife of the late pastor that was being sent off to be closer to God and she will overcome all challenges in her journey on earth.

The guest preacher, Rev. Afan Ajang in a message title ‘Effective Worker in God’s Vineyard, read John 9:1-12’ said many pastors in the Church today are working for self glory and not for the glory of God. He therefore called on them to watch their lives, their health and their families as they will all give account to God at the end of their stewardship.

While performing the send off rights the Chairman RCC Dadin Kowa/PCC Jos, Rev. Mudimka Seri thanked Mrs. Dahil for service they rendered to God in the Church alongside her husband. He said God has relieved her of her service to the Church but not her service to him. He encouraged her to stand firm in the service of the Lord knowing fully well that her labour will not be in vain.

In her testimony Mrs. Helen Samuel Dahil said man has one purpose on earth which is to live and to die. She said her husband has served his own purpose and is resting with the Lord, and her desire is to meet with him in heaven one day. She solicited prayers for God to sustain them.

The COCIN General Secretary, Rev. Assoc. Prof. Benjamin in his goodwill message said in following Jesus one will not always have it the way he want because God’s ways are not our ways. But he has assured us that he will be with us through when we go through difficult times.”
