Honour Campaign Promises, Promote Unity – COCIN President tells Politicians

By Timothy Alamba

The Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo has tasked members who are in politics to honour their campaign promises and work towards peaceful coexistence among citizens.

The clergy made the call yesterday at the COCIN headquarters in Jos during a parley with Members who are politicians.

“Remaining faithful to the pledges you made during your campaign is essential. Honoring those commitments is a crucial political obligation and a powerful reflection of your integrity and dedication to those who entrusted you with their support.” He said.

According to him their influence and leadership position has the potential to make a profound impact on several key projects crucial to the development and prosperity of Plateau state. He also assured them that the church is always open to work with the government to bring development to the people and to maintain peace and security in the state.

The Governor of Plateau state, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang in his speech appreciated COCIN for instilling into them the needed spiritual and moral discipline that has helped them in life. He pledged his commitment to execute developmental projects that will impact the lives of Plateau citizens and called on the Church to continue to pray for them.

According to him his government is in talks with the African Development Bank to create a special Agro processing zone around the Heipang airport which will come on board between now and November.

The project which he wants Plateau people to get involved in is going to bring an investment of not less than a hundred million dollars. He added that everything about agricultural processing will be done around that axis mainly for export and that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has agreed in principle to designate the Yakubu Gowon airport in Heipang to an international status.

He also spoke on other development plans that will bring about growth and development to Plateau State which his government is working on but however called on the church to use its position to clear the distraction of disunity which is hindering development in the state.

Hon. Venmak Bulus, Damishi Sango, Senator Diket Plang and others who responded on behalf of other politicians at the parley thanked the Church for the laudable initiative of organizing the parley and urged that it be sustained. They promised the Church of their willingness to work together to move Plateau state beyond where it is and to support in the propagation of the gospel.

The parley was rounded up with a special prayer for the COCIN members in politics led by the Chairman COCIN Incorporated Trustees, Rev. Prof. Soja Bewarang.
