While congratulating the Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo on his re-election as the COCIN President, leader of the Muslim delegation, Sheik Ango Abdullahi noted that the organization which has existed for over 50 years understands the need for a peaceful coexistence between followers of Christianity and Islam hence the need for them to reach out to the church for the collaboration which he described as fruitful.
“We are delighted that you welcomed us with open arms as this will mark the beginning of better relationships among our people. Peace is a very crucial aspect of our existence and we would not like someone to come from somewhere and destroy our dear state because Plateau is the only home we have.
We are not happy with the happenings in the state and how the image of Plateau State has been tarnished over the years. That is why we need to work together with other denominations, traditional worshippers and the Muslim community to make a difference,” Sheik Abdullahi said.

Responding, the COCIN President who was in company of his Vice, Rev. Prof. Timothy Nwan, General Secretary, Rev. Assoc. Prof. Benjamin Pokol and the Deputy General Secretary, Rev. Dinfa Mamshal observed that, religion should not make us forget our identity and we should never take for granted the need for a peaceful coexistence because we are human beings first before our religions.
He appreciated the team which is made up of its key officials and said the visit symbolizes a show of love and an extension of a hand of fellowship from the Indigenous Muslim Community in Plateau State.
“We should not segregate because we are brothers that is why we must work together to protect the interest of Plateau so that together we can build a better society where we can all enjoy under the grace of God”, Rev. Dr. Mohzo said.
It was learnt during the visit that the Jama’atu Nasril Islam, JNI has its roots from the Indigenous Muslims Association of Plateau State which has been in existence for the past 50 years. Special prayers were rendered for the peace and unity of Plateau and while a group photograph was later taken to remember the historic visit which is the first of its kind.
