March 2, 2022 (Nigeria): An orphanage in Plateau State — “Kids with a Vision” says it has received financial support from popular singer David Adeleke also known as Davido.
On November 20, 2021, the Afro singer announced a N250million donation to 1000 orphanages across Nigeria.
The donated funds came from a crowdfunding he casually set up on social media to celebrate his birthday.
Within two days, the singer announced that he had received as much as N200million which he said he was adding N50million to for charity.
A special committee was reportedly set up to oversee the fund distribution. After an online application process, Grace Solomon, the founder of Kids with Vision based in Jos confirmed receiving from the fund.
“Yes, we got the Davido Funds through the mercies of God and we celebrate God over and over again that He identified us amongst the over 1000 Orphanages in Nigeria,” wrote Solomon in a text message to The Light Bearer.
Solomon credited public “connectedness” with the favour.
“Thank you for believing in Kids with a Vision Foundation all these years,” she wrote, pleading for more support.
“David and his friends gave for a cause What can you give to make a difference?” She asked. “What can you and your friends do? What can you and your Family take up as a project? This is a call to action,” she wrote.
“A broom is a need, bucket, Socks, Tissue, Cup, books etc. Identify a need in an Orphans life anywhere you are today and be part of this season of blessings,” wrote Solomon.
