Jos Residents Benefit Free Medical Outreach by Theology Students

Over One Hundred and Fifty (150) residents of Dashik, Kangang and environs in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State have benefited from a free medical outreach held at the Church of Christ in Nations,COCIN Theological Education by Extension, (TEE).

The maiden medical outreach and evangelism with the theme, “Be Healed” was put together by the COCIN Theological Education by Extension (TEE), in collaboration with her first graduating class of Bachelor Degree in Divinity, (BDD), whose graduation is scheduled for Saturday 17th May, 2025.

Speaking at the One-day event, Pharmacist Dorcas Lohdip, the class representative of the graduating class and National Treasurer of Christian Pharmacist Fellowship of Nigeria, stressed the need for early medical check-up among people for easy detection of diseases.

Pharm. Lohdip, a former President of the Christian Pharmacist Fellowship of Nigeria, Plateau State Chapter, said the outreach was parts of their contributions to the society. She outlined 10 Laws of health during a health talk session.

She said steps for a healthy life includes taking a deep breath 10 times in the morning, taking water, receiving of morning Sunshine, eating well, (balance diet), and physical exercise. Others according to her includes self control, hope, 6-8 hours rest a day, hygiene and sanitation as well as knowledge.

Also in a brief exhortation, Pharm. Wuyep Danladi, who spoke on the theme of the outreach, “Be Healed” said the outreach is holistic and the theme is a prophetic declaration as the graduating students desire the beneficiaries to be healed spiritually and physically.

He read the book of Isaiah 61:1 following and said spiritual healing can address emotional and mental health as well.

Provost of the COCIN Theological Education by Extension, (TEE), Rev. Dr. Timothy Dafer, while appreciating the pioneer graduating Degree Students for the initiative, said it has contributed to their social responsibility to the host community and prayed God to bless them.

A Ninety year old grandfather, Mr. Ishaya Gyang and Mrs. Mercy Christopher, who benefited from the free health services were excited with the seamless exercise and the drugs that was given to them after they went through different screening.

Services provided at the outreach which includes health talk, HIV testing, Blood Pressure screening, eye check, counseling and referrals were all free.
