Speaking further, the Pathfinder International Media and Communication Officer, Mr. Bayo Ewuola said the media plays an integral role in the success of advocacy hence, Pathfinder International prioritizes building the capacity of journalists at the sub-national level to a series of capacity building opportunities including but not limited to ethical journalism, data-driven reporting, field trips, documentation, investigative journalism, new media, among others.
“As the Advance Family Planning project is gradually winding up, and to ensure sustainability, it is now important to have a set of mentors among the journalists that will ensure that the skills exchange and development program for the media is further cascaded within the space. This will in turn sustain family planning advocacy at the sub-national and national levels.
“The intensive workshop will further enable trained and mentored journalists under the project in the act of mounting repeater training amongst and for their peers in media advocacy for FP” says the Media and Communication Officer of the organization.
Pathfinder International is one of the frontline implementation partners for family planning that are working to ensure its full Implementation at the national level and ensure government commit funds to family planning to create visibility in the Nigeria Community.
