The Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon. Aminu Abdullahi has resigned his position as presiding officer of the state assembly with immediate effect.
In a hand written letter personally signed by the speaker and addressed to the Clerk of the House, the speaker said his decision to dropped his position is personal.
The speaker who is a member of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress APC, representing Sabon Gari LGA constituency was elected speaker in 2015 and reelected in 2019 by members of the state Parliament.
It was gathered that 25 members of the state assembly had earlier signed for his impeachment before he tendered his resignation.
The Parliament has since elected Yusuf Zailani, member representing Igabi West as new speaker.
