Lack of Hospital, Doctors Causing Deaths in Plateau LGA

A member of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Barr. Wallok Goma has said his constituents are dying due to lack of a standard hospital.

The member representing Kanke constituency in the State legislature told The Light Bearer that the LGA has no active medical doctor.

“We are losing a lot of lives in Kanke local government, we don’t even have a single medical doctor in the entire local government that can attend to the medical needs of the people” Barr. Wallok disclosed.

This according to the member, prompted him to move a motion on the need to complete the General Hospital project which was awarded during the administration of Governor Joshua Dariye but was abandoned by successive governments in the state.

“We thank God, when I moved the motion, his Excellency the governor released funds for the contractor to resume work on the site and if not for the corona virus pandemic, I believe the hospital would have been commissioned” he said.

Kanke local government which has a land area of 926 km² and a population of 121,424 according to the 2006 census, was created in 1996 by the then military regime of General Sani Abacha.
