Classrooms built by Mr. Listick

By Joel Gomiyar

The member representing Langtang North Central at the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Daniel Listick has donated two classroom blocks with Office accomodation to Government Primary School Wangwang in his constituency which previously existed without infrastructure.

The donated structures are now the only infrastructure in the school. Residents of Wangwang community who are chiefly peasant farmers had previously built a mud classroom block but was destroyed by rainstorm, forcing pupils to sit in open fields to study.

Residents and pupils were visibly elated when the Lawmaker built classrooms for them.

Speaking to Lightbearer newspaper, Listick said he was pushed by the desire to encourage learning to make the donation.

At the commissioning of the structures, the Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Saleh Yipmong praised his colleague for the donation, charging others to do same.

Dozens of schools exist in Langtang North without structures, said the county’s Education Secretary, Mr. Iliya Bot. “The structure issue is not peculiar to LEA Wangwang alone as there are many schools in the area with related issue,” Bot told The Light Bearer by phone.
