LG Chairman sacked hours after Herdsmen killed eight in Jos South

Mr. Choji leads securities to scene of attack near Government Science School Kuru, Saturday

Plateau: The Management Committee Chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, Dachung Yohanna Choji, has been relieved of his appointment. He was sacked by the Plateau State legislature, barely 48hrs after herdsmen killed eight miners in the LGA.

Mr. Choji will handover to the Management Committee Secretary, who will act until the appointment of a substantive Chairman, said the Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker, Mr. Ayuba Abok on Monday.

The Speaker who read the House’s resolution after an Executive session, also announced the extension of tenure of the Management Committee Chairmen of Barkin Ladi, Riyom and Jos North for another period of two months.

A statement from the Press Secretary to the Speaker, Bulus Atang says the tenure extension takes effect from Monday 12th April, 2021.

The action became necessary to avoid creating a vacuum in the Local Government Councils following the inability of the Plateau State Independence Electoral Commission to conduct elections for the LGAs, the statement says.
