Nasarawa State: Rival Political Parties Unite Over APC Chairman’s Death

The main opposition party in Nasarawa State, the People’s Democratic Party has petitioned God for vengeance on those who murdered the chairman of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress APC in the state, Chief Philip Shekwo.

The two major political parties PDP and APC whose relationship at some points were like that of cat and dog in the state are now coming together with the reality of the murder of the APC state chairman as they jointly mourn his death.

Leading a high power delegation of the PDP on a condolence visit to the immediate family of the Late politician, the state party chairman, Francis Orogu expressed shock and sadness over the barbaric act.

The Chairman added that the killing of the State ruling party’s chairman is a thing of great concern as it shows that there’s serious security challenge in the State if a peace loving public figure can be murdered in his residence.

“We as a Party, commiserate with Hon. Shekwo’s family members, the APC family and indeed Nasarawa State in its entirety” he further started.

The delegation prayed that the perpetrators of the callous act should not go unpunished and demanded swift actions from the government to ensure that the killers are found and  brought to book.

State APC secretary, Aliyu Bello who received the delegation on behalf of the deceased family and the APC, appreciated the opposition party for sharing with them in their moment of grief.

In his words,  “my late Chairman  Hon. Philip Tatari Shekwo lived a peaceful, simple and exemplary life worthy of emulation on earth…”

Meanwhile, the family has set Friday this week for burial at Yelwa in Toto local government area of the state as announced by chief Abuson Yinusa Shekwo for the family.

It would be recalled that the Nasarawa State APC chairman, Chief Philip Shekwo was abducted by gunmen at his residence in Lafia on Saturday and his corpse was found few metres away from his house on Sunday morning what the Police in the state described as a pure case of assassination.
