It’s a new dawn for the Female Journalists in Plateau State as they ushered in a new set of executives to pilot the affairs of the union for the next 3 years.
The election and subsequent inauguration took place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Plateau State Council Secretariat in Jos on Wednesday.
All the newly inaugurated executive members of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ emerged unopposed in the presence of representatives of the National leaders of the Association.
The out-going Chairman of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), Mrs. Nene Dung appreciated the corporation she received from members in her 3 years as she reel out some achievements under her leadership to include issues related to women, voice to the voiceless and the successful hosting NAWOJ Kitchen.
She called on the members to extend the same support to the incoming leadership and prayed for the new Excos to succeed in their leadership.

Barrister Lauretta Chala who administer oath of office to the new executives, charged them on confidentiality and support for women in the state and the need for them to also work hand in hand with Female Lawyers to address Gender Based Violence in the State.
In her acceptance speech, the new Chairman of the Association, Grace Akwe reassured women journalists in the state of her readiness work with her team to improve on the Association’s activities in the state.
Other elected officials of the Association who were returned unopposed were Yvonne Ishola, Vice Chairman, Mwese Adem, Secretary, Esther Oyang, Assistant Secretary, Patience Aliyu, Financial Secretary, Jembyen Zitta Treasurer and Asile Abel, Auditor.
Earlier, the NAWOJ 2025 credentials committee Chairman, Mrs. Lucy Chindaba tasked them on team work.
There were goodwill messages from the Vice Chairman, Zone D of the Association, Mrs. Chizoba Ogbeche,and Plateau State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Mrs. Ayuku Pwaspo who congratulated the out-going Excos and wished the new ones a successful tenure.
