A member of the Nigerian House of Reps, Simon Mwadkon on Friday organized a peace event to celebrate the country’s 61st independence anniversary.
Mwadkwon who is the Member representing Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency in the National Assembly named the tournament “peace and unity” day celebration – meant to foster peace and unity among the predominantly Christian locals and other religious faithful in the constituency.
“We are first human before we became persons of a given religion, ethnic group, political party or geopolitical zone”, said Mwadkwon at the tournament venue in Barkin Ladi town. “Our sense of humanity and patriotism must supersede any form of primordial sentiments that are retrogressive and inimical to National prosperity”, he said.
“I am committed to human capital development through strategic and result-oriented empowerment of his Constituents especially the Youths. As a Lawmaker, I will contribute legislatively in making laws that will promote unity, engender development and impact the people as well as the society,” Mwadkwon added.
