Mrs. Patience Milam, who retired as a lecturer with Gindiri Theological Seminary (GTS), on the 23rd March, 2025 at the age of 60 has died one month after her retirement.
The deceased who is the wife of Rev. Dr. Goladi Milam (rtd), died on the 23rd April, 2025, following a pro-long illness that kept her down even on her retirement day.
Testifying at her funeral service which was held on Tuesday at Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN, Local Church Council, LCC Dong, in Jos North local government area, her son. Mr. Nenla’e Goladi Milam described her as the best gift that ever happened to the family.
According to him, she never ceased to pray for them to her point of death, calling them by name one after the other and encouraging them to love God and one another.
Rev. Dr. Goladi Milam, husband of the deceased, noted that though she suffered for a while physically but the name of the Lord was glorified at the end. He said he refused to cry because he knows that the owner has taken her to be with Him and he returned gratitude to God for her life, the church and all the congregation for standing by them to bid farewell to her.
Rev. Dr. Timothy Dafer, who testified about her on behalf of COCIN Dong, described her as a source of encouragement to the Church, especially the Women Fellowship.
He said they will miss her love and fellowship, but appreciated God that the ministry of the family will still continue especially as her son is an elder in the church.
COCIN President, Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo, read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 and said God has given believers assurance in His word, hence believers need not to worry much about death.
He appreciated God for the life of the deceased, saying she has finished her work here on earth. He appealed to the children to love God as their mother did and prayed God on behalf of the Church to continue to comfort them.
Rev. Dr. Mudimka Seri, the Chairman of PCC Jos, while performing the funeral rites, said God is the refuge of every believer hence, no one can separate them from the love of God.
In a sermon, Rev. Ishaku Mangai read from the book of 2 Corrinthians 5:1-10 and spoke on the topic, “setting priorities right”, where he urged believers to prioritise heavenly things over earthly things that are temporal.
He said the deceased is receiving good testimonies because she set her priority right, which is her quest to please God and make heaven, as he urged the congregation to reflect on their lives and prioritise God’s kingdom.
The journey to lay Mama Patience to rest started at Bingham University Teaching hospital, Jos, to COCIN LCC Dong for funeral service and thereafter she was laid to rest at the family compound in Dong, where families and sympathizers bid her final farewell.
Left behind to mourn her is her husband, Rev. Dr. Goladi Milam, 3 Children, her aged parents and many other relations.
