The Plateau Microfinance Development Agency (PLASMIDA) says it has concluded plans to provide micro and soft loans to women in the State.
The arrangement with two commercial banks according to the agency’s chief executive – Mr. Bonkam Ali Wuyep is to ease access to finance for women in business.
“At the moment, members of Market women association have started benefiting,” said Wuyep on 23 June at a business workshop in Jos. “Also, loans were negotiated at single digit interest rate for Medium and Small businesses wholly owned by women,” he said.
Wuyep noted private businesses provide over 70% of employment in Plateau and remain major contributors of Revenue to the State.
“As such, Government is doing everything to ensure that they thrive,” he said, “The Executive Governor, Rt. Hon . Dr. Simon Bako Lalong set up the Agency to institutionalize the fight against poverty and to also provide a platform for MSMEs to explore and take advantage of.”
He appreciated Governor Simon Bako Lalong for establishing strong institutions to support local Businesses.
