The Gubernatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Plateau State, Solomon Nandy Chendan has expressed disappointment over the manner the current Governor, Simon Lalong is handling security threats in the State.

The Chendan while sympathizing with victims of recent attacks in Bokkos said despite receiving over 21 billion naira as security vote in 7 years, the governor has failed to secure citizens in the State.

Chendan who is a former security consultant to the former Governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-makura decried government’s lack of political will to investigate and prosecute attacks.

“Everyday citizens are being killed. Our mothers and daughters are being raped, this is very sad and no nation will accept that” he said.

Responding to the N21bn security funds allegedly received by the State, the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Dan Manjang said government was doing its best and there was no need to respond to “conjecture”.

“You are a Journalist and if you have been in this state when people always run helter skelter and now, then you can tell whether the government has done something or not” the Commissioner said.

He added that the insecurity is not an issue of Plateau State alone, and that the Peace Building Agency of the State are working hard which is yielding positive result, saying insecurity is not alien to Plateau State.
