Plateau Assembly Approves Budget for Recruitment of 300 Fire Fighters.

The Plateau State House of Assembly Committee of Housing, Urban and Rural Development has approved a budget proposal for the recruitment of 300 fire fighters into the State Fire Service.

This was revealed by chairman of the standing committee, Hon. Abel Nimchak, member representing Langtang North-North after the service defended her 2026 budget proposal at the ongoing 2026 Budget defense by Ministries, Departments and Agencies at the Plateau State House of Assembly.

According to the Committee Chairman, the approval became necessary because some staff of the service have exited the service and for over a decade there has not been any employment in the service.

During the defense, committee observed and advised the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development particularly on projects that have been reoccurring to downsize and concentrate on the important ones to complete them.

Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission, PLASIEC, Plateau State Christian Pilgrim Board and the Muslim Pilgrim Board also appeared and defended their budget before the Assembly Committee on Parastatals and World Bank projects on Monday.

Similarly, Chairman House Committee on House Services and Welfare, Hon. Ibrahim Galadima has assured the House of Assembly Staff that their welfare is of topmost priority to the leadership of the Assembly.

He gave the assurance when the House of Assembly management staff appeared before the committee to defend their budget, noting that the priority given to their welfare is to encourage their productivity.

Chairman House Committee on Works, Hon. Dickson Chollom and his committee members also scrutinized the budget of the Ministry of Works, led by the Commissioner, Hon. Ubandoma Laven and that of Plateau State Road Maintenance Agency under the leadership of Engr. Luka Davou where they revealed that the budget focuses on the completion of ongoing road projects in the state.
