Plateau State House of Assembly has assured Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), of partnership to better the living condition of vulnerable people in the society.
Hon. Mathew Kwarpo, the Assembly Committee Chairman on Information gave the assurance on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan when he received in his office, representatives of Mission for the Vulnerable and Displaced Citizens Safe House for Justice and Human Empowerment. The group is currently working on a documentary of Plateau State violent attacks since 2001 to date.
The Assembly spokesman said the partnership is beyond politics, as it is something that everybody should be involved in. “When you go to the IDP camps you will see that the people there are in need of various support.
“You will see that they don’t have food, Shelter or access to healthcare. And so documenting all this and recommending it for people to come to their aid is very important.” He added.
Coordinator of the NGOs, Joana Arin applauded the legislator for identifying with the less privileged, internally displaced persons and vulnerable people in his constituency. She sued for his support and inputs towards making a documentary on the various attacks recorded in the state.
APC Kauna Women Group of Mangu Ward 1, were also in the lawmaker’s office to present him an award of excellence for the various impact he has made in his constituency.
Leader of the APC Kauna Women Group, Celina Datit who led other members of the group on the courtesy visit to the member, was full of praise for what the member is doing, citing several achievements he has recorded in Mangu South since he assumed office.
The member also received on a courtesy call members of the Manpower Group. They are a group of people, who load and offload goods at the Mangu Market.
The group appreciated Mr Kwarpo for his various contributions in his Constituency and called on him to also include members of the group in his empowerment programs.
Hon. Kwarpo appreciated all the groups for identifying with him as he called for unity among them and solicited prayers for God to grant him the grace to serve the constituency well. He used the opportunity to enumerate his achievements and plans for his Constituency.
