The Plateau State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed Five Commissioners nominated by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
The 5 Commissioner nominees were screen and confirmed during plenary at the Old Government House, Rayfield, Jos on Friday.
The 5 Commissioners are Rt. Hon. Joyce Ramnap, who is a former Deputy Speaker of the Plateau State 7th Assembly, from Langtang South, Hon. Cornelius Doeyok, one of the sacked members of the 10th Assembly by the Court of Appeal, from Quanpan, Architect Sylvanus Dongtoe, former Commissioner during the administration of Sen. Jonah David Jang from Shendam.
Others are Dr. Sunday Akpa, a retired Permanent Secretary from the State Civil Service from Bassa and Dr. Nicholas Baamlong also from Quanpan.
Speaking shortly after their confirmation, Rt. Hon. Joyce Ramnap appreciated the governor for finding them worthy to serve the state under his leadership and the State Assembly for confirming them.
She pledged their total loyalty and support to the government by contributing their quota in actualizing the good vision of the “Time is Now” administration.
The House also in the plenary received report of the House Committee on Health on a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of Plateau State Blood Service Commission and other related matters, 2024, which was sponsored by Hon. Nanbol Listick of Langtang North Central.
After converting the house into a committee of whole, the house considered the report holistically and commended the Committee’s diligent work and passed the bill for third reading.
Earlier, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Dewan, while welcoming the members from their annual recess, said he hopes they have returned with renewed strength to serve the people as legislators.
He urged the members to approach the new session with a renewed sense of purpose and dedication, urging them to work tirelessly towards building a better future for the people by the principles of justice, equity and progress.
He then read the Communication of the Governor on the nomination of the 5 Commissioners, following the disengagement of the 5 former executive council members by the governor.
