Central Nigeria: The Governor of Plateau state, Simon Lalong on Wednesday signed into law, a revised budget for the 2020 fiscal year.
The 2020 Budget initially pegged at N177, 340,521,174.00 was slashed to N122, 848,822,913.00 “To take care of the realities of COVID-19 which has greatly affected the economy of the State,” Lalong said in Jos, thr capital of the State.
“We engaged in various cost-cutting measures to enable us manage the lean resources efficiently and also try to fulfill our most basic responsibilities of providing services to our citizens,” said the Governor.
Lalong assured of the commitment of his administration “to work through” the challenges caused by the pandemic “by effectively applying available resources to the most critical areas that will benefit our people and assist us bequeath a lasting legacy for the people of Plateau State.”
The revised budget, Governor Lalong said will be funded through revenue collected by a “reputable revenue collection firm” engaged to improve on revenue targets, especially the Internally Generated Revenue”.
