The member, representing Kanke Constituency in the Plateau state house of assembly, Barr Wallok Goma has put smile into the faces of his constituents with critical projects that have direct bearing to human lives.
Aside his legislative obligations, the member used his personal income to provide the immediate needs of his constituents during his one year in office which were all commissioned on Thursday, by the Speaker of the Plateau state house of Assembly, Ayuba Abok.
The projects includes building of structure at the Dog Market in Dawaki to serve the people and boost their business, two motorised boreholes in Amper, renovation of two block class room at LEA Primary School, Belbu also in Amper and Constituency office to serve as liaison office between the member and his constituents at Kwal, the headquarters of Kanke LGA.
Speaking at the commissioning of the projects, Barr. Wallok Goma explained that though not part of his primary responsibility, but he saw the needs of his people and some of the projects were the needs that the people requested and he promised to do during his campaign.
“To the glory of God when I got to the office I made some efforts if government can intervene especially on the dilapidated nature of the school, I send a letter to State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB to consider them in their program. But since they did not act and the children need to go to school, I said I need to renovate it for them” he said.
He assured the constituents that as their representative, he is doing everything humanly possible to make government provide them with more dividends of democracy as he has moved motions at the floor of the house for government intervention in areas of empowerment, security and other needs.
Addressing the constituents before the commissioning, the Speaker of the 9th state assembly, Ayuba Abok, salute the member and congratulated the beneficiaries of the projects.
“My brother, you have done well, we are yet to receive constituency intervention, as legislators our primary responsibility is to make laws for the good of the people of Plateau state, but not withstanding that will not stop us from intervening on needs of our people like Wallok did from his own pocket” he added.
Chairman of Kanke LGA, Nde Emmanuel Lar, who witnessed the commissioning of the projects appreciated the member for coming to the aid of his people, saying he has reduced some of the burden on them and the structure at the Dog Market will generate more revenue to the local government.
Nde Lar urged the people to jealously protect the projects so as to serve them better and longer.
The district head of Dawaki, Nde Julius Bombwir and that of Amper district, Nde Emmanuel Jatau all applauded the member on behalf of their subjects who are the direct beneficiaries of the gift and pray God for the member to continue with his good representation as they are witnessing his impact.
