The Chairman of Bassa local government area of Plateau State has commended security operatives for the arrest of one Samson Eze (31) a serial Killer who specializes in killing Tricycles and motorcycles riders.
The Chairman, Engr. Stephen Igmala was speaking on Wednesday at the scene of evacuating 3 corpses killed by the suspect and dumped in a soak away at Agingi Community of Bassa local government area of the state.
The LG boss who mobilized health personnels alongside the Divisional Police Officer of Bassa Police Division, Yakubu James to evacuate the corpses, appreciated the security agencies for their professionalism.
He described the act as barbaric and inhuman, but appealed for calm among the people of the area after angry youths of the suspect’s Community in Kampala Village of Jos North LGA burned down his House.
Engr. Igmala appealed to residents of Agingi not to destroy the residence where the death bodies were being evacuated because the house does not belong to the suspect but to the man who reported the suspect to the Police and aided his arrest.
The Chairman noted that the council will ban movement of Tricycles and Motorcycles by 8pm in the local government to curtail crime.
The Bassa Divisional Police Officer, Yakubu James explained that after thorough investigation, the suspect had confessed to the crime and said he uses iron rod to kill his victims after he luring them to his brother’s uncompleted building.
He said it took professional tactics to arrest the culprit in his house at night after laying siege. The DPO noted that the suspect made an attempt to escape by jumping the fence but unfortunately he fell down on one of the officers and was arrested.
He said they were able to recovered 2 Tricycles, 1 Motorcycle and a Military uniform in the suspect’s house.
The Divisional Police Boss, said the suspect has confessed to the crime and had given the police Intel on how he usually lured his victims from Jos North to kill them in Bassa local government
He said the case was reported to them by the suspect’s relation who is the owner of the house where the suspect perpetrates the crime and he also aided the arrest of the suspect.
DPO James said the suspect has already been handed over to the Headquarters of the Police Command in Jos, adding that the corpses would be taken to the hospital for autopsy before releasing them to their families for burial.
