Plateau: Mwaghavul Youths Demands Arrest of MACBAN Leader over Threats of Violence.

A socio cultural youth group in Plateau State, known as the Mwaghavul Youth Movement (MYM), has called for the immediate arrests and prosecution of the Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Mangu local government area over threats of violence against the community in a recent viral video.

President, Mwaghavul Youth Movement, Comrade Kyesmang Yusuf made the call during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Plateau State Council Secretariat alongside other officials and stakeholders of the Mwaghavul Youth Movement.

The group also called for the arrest of one Bilal Gambo, also a Fulani and former resident of Jwakchang-Kwaghas community between Pushit and Panyam District of Mangu LGA, who made provocative and defamatory statements against their people.

“At this point, we will not conclude that the security agencies are still pretending not to have read or heard the threats issued by these terrorists.

“It is not in doubt that the Fulanis have mistaken our people’s simplicity for weakness and stupidity. We demand that these individuals be arrested and prosecuted immediately for inciting violence against our people.

Worthy of note according to the Mwaghavul Youth Movement was that the unprovoked attacks on the Mwaghavul Nation have resulted in the sacking of over thirty villages out of 103 affected communities, displacement of over 65, 000 villagers, grounding of 6,111 houses and, immense loss of over 600 lives aside properties.

The group said for two years, the Fulani terrorists have neither shown any form of remorse for their atrocities nor regard for human life. Rather, they have continued to target innocent Mwaghavul people either on their farms or anywhere outside their land.

“We call on the Nigerian Army to investigate the recent destruction of crops by the Fulani in Mangu and other parts of Mangu LGA. There have been attacks that claimed numerous lives and villages within Mangu and other LGAs of the State.

“It is essential that the Army takes an objective stance, protecting all ethnic groups within Mangu LGA equally, while giving attention to the temerity of the Fulani elements.

“The Mwaghavul Youth Movement condemns every act of terrorism and criminality in the strongest possible terms and demands that immediate and concrete actions be taken against their activities on the Plateau and beyond.

“We call for unity among all tribes on the Plateau to stand together against this common enemy, the terrorists and urge the Government to provide security, investigate where these terrorists come from, and arrest and prosecute them.

“The Fulanis must expose the foreign terror groups hybernating amongst them to ensure trust. Together we will defeat the terror groups. Until they show such commitments, they are perceived as friends of our enemies. This has serious implications on their relationship with Nigerian citizens.

“We urge all members of the Mwaghavul Youth Movement to remain peaceful and law-abiding as always but never to be intimidated or succumb to the known strategies of the terrorists.

“We also call on youths of all ethnic groups on the Plateau and Nigeria to rise to the occasion of defending their territories. Activities of terrorists are no doubt a fight against the State and not only against the Mwaghavul Nation but against all Nigerians.

The youth group also called for justice for victims of the ongoing genocides for which Fulani leaders have taken responsibility for in their community, Mangu, Plateau and Nigeria.

They noted that unity is key to their survival and victory over feudal motives and reiterate the call for unity, action, and justice for all victims of genocide and terrorist attacks.

“We will not stand idly by while our people suffer from senseless unpatriotic elements.” The youth group said.
