The Gubernatorial Candidate of the opposition People’s Democratic Party PDP in Plateau State has sought the platform of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ in the state to disseminate his good intentions for the state to the citizens.
The Candidate, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang stated this when he led a high powered delegation of the party for a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, Plateau State Council members on Monday.
He said the partnership became imperative because of the critical rule that members of the fourth estate have in the society especially in information dissemination.
Barr. Mutfwang noted that as the party is starting her campaign/rally officially on Tuesday to the 3 senatorial zones of the state, they have come to partner the NUJ in selling their plans to the people of Plateau State.
“We are persuaded that we have the message that Plateau people need to hear, and without a platform and necessary channels which you manage, we would not be able to disseminate our good intentions very clearly to the people that we desire to lead” he said.
The PDP Guber Candidate said they are coming on board to offer credible leadership, because leadership is very key to the progress of a society. He said Plateau State lost leadership over the years since PDP lost power.
“So our first promise to the people of Plateau is that we are offering ourselves for the people of Plateau to consider and accept us to give us the opportunity to be able to lead from the front. We intend by the grace of God that we would confront the challenges of Plateau State within the context of Nigeria, with boldness, with clarity and be able to bring in best global practices to bear on our local situation.
“We therefore want you to help us to assure the people of Plateau that we are capable, we are competent to provide the kind of leadership that they have been yearning for over the years” he said.
Barr. Mutfwang noted that Plateau State is now far worse than it was in 2015, saying as at today, Plateau State has a debt burden of N200 billion.
He said his leadership will bring to bear competent human and management resources, in harnessing assess that are already available in making sure they perform better.
He noted that they would also reach out to federal authority to ensure that the security architecture of the country is restructure to allow for professionalism, inclusiveness and devolution of powers to be able to deal with the security challenges more critically.
Mutfwang stated that by the grace of God they are determined to lift people out of poverty and to lay the foundation of the Plateau economy outside oil, because the reality is that oil is dwindling and might soon become a thing of the past.
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Plateau State Council, Comrade Paul Jatau assured the guest of professional partnership as a professional body that the society is looking up to.
The Gubernatorial Candidate used the visit to tour the premises of the NUJ Secretariat and commended the remodeling work as he promised greater partnership with the Plateau state NUJ council.
