The All Progressives Congress in Plateau State on Sunday raised over N100m through public donations to “mobilize” party faithful to guard against “ballot box snatching” and other electoral offences during the Southern Plateau Senatorial by-election slated for October 31, 2020.
Political campaigns have been monetized, making it hard for an individual to fund such “mobilizations,” Senator Victor Lar, the Director-General of the Campaign Organization of the APC’s Senatorial candidate, Nora Daduut said.
The fundraising was organized in “fulfilment” of one of the “requirements” of the Electoral Act “to gather as a party to support a candidate,” said Chairman of APC, Mr. Letep Dabang.
Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, at the fundraising dinner in Jos said Government was working for the “peaceful” conduct of the by-election.
Sure of victory, the Governor said opposition party members wishing to decamp to the ruling Party were welcome.
