Plateau Speaker Confident of God’s will in 2023 General Elections

Speaker of the Plateau State 9th Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda has called on citizens to allow God’s will to prevail in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

The speaker said the 2023 general election will define the history of Nigeria as a nation and of the people of Plateau State.

In his Christmas message, the speaker also called for sober reflection among Christians as they celebrate the 2022 Christmas and hopes for a better year come 2023.

“As we step into another phase of our democratic journey, the 2023 general election is an election that will define our history as a nation and people of Plateau State, and I am most confident that God’s will is going to be a big factor in this election if we allow him to step in.

“It is our believe that 2023 will usher in a more robust legislative agenda that will reflect more on the yearnings and aspirations of the people as well as promoting democratic values and gains through the legislative system.

“The year 2022, has been a difficult year for most families and even the Government. However, we have worked very hard and in many instances, we have overcome and  have  been successful with the goals we have set for ourselves. The future is indeed promising” he said.

The speaker also reminded believers on the essence of Christmas which is all about the birth of Jesus Christ, who came and died for the salvation of mankind and called for love and care from believers.

“As we all know, this Celebration is rooted in the birth of Christ and is celebrated around the world as a season of joyous sharing with friends and families, and caring for the less privileged.

“So, while we celebrate, Christmas should remind us of the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan, who cared for the wounded on the road when others of more exalted status walked by. This is the true essence of the Christian love in action.

“As we celebrate, let us do so with kindness, showing love and care for one another, particularly the sick, physically challenged persons, the aged and homeless amongst us.

Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda used the moment to thank the citizens of Plateau state, who according to him, through difficult times have provided moral support and prayers to the leadership of the various arms of Government.

“You all exemplify the oneness of the Plateau family and we must find ways of further integrating the bound into the life and development of our dear state. We are a resilient people and I have absolute confidence that we will overcome our present challenges as a people united in love.

“As legislators, we are not unmindful of the security challenges and economic hardship faced by the people, we are however committed to continue to uphold and promote people oriented legislation that will be anchored on peace, unity and economic development of the state.

Sanda said as a house, they will continue to work closely with the executive and judiciary to stand with the people at their moments of difficulties and provide for them a platform to believe in themselves and the Plateau project.

He cautioned those whom he described as careless and irresponsible promoter of hate, falsehood, fear and agitation to jettison their thoughts.
