The Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel, has spent over ₦14.1 million to sponsor the registration of 1,704 candidates for the 2026 examination conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in Mikang Local Government Area of the State.
The initiative forms part of the Speaker’s annual intervention aimed at supporting the educational aspirations of young people in his Constituency, particularly those seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
According to a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Philip Eplong, the sponsorship was funded entirely from the Speaker’s personal purse and is not a government or constituency project.
The statement noted that the gesture reflects Hon. Naanlong’s commitment to investing in education and easing financial burdens that could prevent many youths from registering for the examination.
It added that the intervention demonstrates the Speaker’s determination to empower young people by creating opportunities that inspire hope, nurture talent, and contribute to the development of future leaders.
The Speaker maintained that investing in education remains one of the most effective ways of building human capital and securing a brighter future for society.
