Plateau State 29,000 Work force, Government to Conduct Staff Audit.

The Plateau State Government has said that plans are underway to carry out staff audit to authenticate the approximately Twenty Nine Thousand, (29,000), state workforce.

Mr. Stephen Gadong, the Head of Plateau State Civil Service, stated this while fielding questions from Journalists after presenting the scorecards of the service at the ongoing Plateau State 2025 Ministerial briefing at the State Ministry of Information in Jos on Tuesday.

According to him, the state workforce which includes political appointees, Institutions and civil servants is currently approximated at 29,000.

“But what we intend to do now is to carry out a staff audit. And when we do that, we will get the authentic figure.” He said.

He said same thing apply to the state pensioners.

Mr. Stephen outlined some achievements of the service to include payment of all outstanding salary arrears owed to civil servants and that currently they are up to date in the payment of monthly salaries.

“Continued settlement of pension and gratuity arrears dating back to 1986, utilizing the monthly N400 million release graciously approved by His Excellency the Governor.

“Release and implementation of Promotions to date – 2025 for deserving civil servants across MDAs. Full implementation of the N70, 000 minimum wage, including payment of arrears to all categories of workers.

“Digitization of personnel records and commencement of installation of biometric attendance devices across MDAs. Upward review of monthly pensions for retirees in the State from N5, 000.00 to N20, 000.00 minimum pension.

“Production and dissemination of updated Public Service Rules. Upward review of reparation allowances and burial expenses, with payments made promptly to families of deceased civil servants.”

Other ministries also took turns and enumerated the ” Time is Now” administration achievements within their ministries.

Earlier while declaring the second edition of the Ministerial briefing open, the State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon Joyce Ramnap said the event is a bold and transparent stock taking exercise, where Ministries, Departments and Agencies lay bare their scorecards, highlighting the work done under the dynamic leadership of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, over the past two years.

Assuring that the Barrister Caleb Mutfwang administration is working out policies and programmes aimed at making the lives of the citizens better.
